What NOT To Wear:

- Shirts with logos, pictures, and lettering

- Tight and busy patterns (i.e. stripes, tiny polka-dots, etc.)

- Bright and bold colors (i.e. bright orange or lime green)

- White clothing can wash out fair complexions

- Be extra careful about wearing white in the winter months when your tan is more faded and/or when you'll be in the snow

- Maternity: Clothing that is too baggy — you want to show off your bump

What To Wear:

Headshots:

Confidence is key. Go through your wardrobe the day before your shoot and choose clothes that make you feel happy and confident. Classic and neutral colors always work well. Wear colors that go best with your complexion, hair color and eyes. For example, if you have blue eyes, wearing a blue shirt can make your eyes "pop" and enhance their color in your photos.

Families:

Casual is usually best. Everyone should wear roughly similar, coordinated tones but NOT everyone in the same color or matching outfits! A good example would be dark green or navy blue with some gray and white mixed in but NOT everyone in green or blue, etc. Earth tones tend to be best. Mix it up with different textures and shades of a similar color. If unsure, bring along a few different shirts, and we can help you decide if you want. We love posing our families in playful and natural situations. With this is mind, we may be on the floor or engaging in playful activity with your kids. Be sure to wear clothes that would be comfortable in a variety of positions (i.e. avoid short skirts and low-cut tops).

Children:

It's hard to go wrong with kids, but earthy/neutral tones always are best. Avoid patterns (stripes, polka dots, etc.), pictures, and letters/words. Layers look good and are fun (i.e. girls in skirts with tights, shirts with a light jacket or flannel, boys in overalls, etc.). Bare feet.

- Girls: Dresses (especially white cotton or eyelet dresses), jeans, skirts with tights, ribbons and bows in their hair

- Boys: Overalls (even without a shirt), no shirt at all, jeans, hats

- Outdoor Sessions: Rain boots, cowboy/girl boots

- Prop Ideas: Bring along a teddy bear or a favorite toy. Incorporating these tend to bring out natural smiles and tenderness

Babies:

Earthy/neutral tones always are best. Avoid patterns (stripes, polka dots, etc.), pictures, and letters/words. Having a swaddle or two is great. A majority of photos will either have the baby swaddled or naked/diapered.

Maternity:

Earthy/neutral tones always are best. Neutral solid-colored tank tops and/or fitted pants work great. We want to see your belly! So... your pre-maternity jeans–unbuttoned, button-down shirts that can be left unbuttoned over your belly, form-fitting dresses, etc. Pretty bra and panties.

*Pro-tip: A manicure is a great idea because your hands will be in a lot of photos. Either way, it's always a good idea to have your hands/nails well groomed and clean for your shoot.

Tips:

- If there's something about your body that you don't like, try cover it up. You'd be surprised how many people come to their session wearing a sleeveless shirt and say they hate their upper arms.
- It's always a good idea to have your hands/nails well groomed and clean for your shoot in case they appear in any photos.
